First OB Appointment

Headed down to Tripler for my fist OB appointment and totally thought it was going to be something different.  All I got was paperwork and poked.  I guess it's good that I get all my blood work done first so when I come back they will know more to help me.  I just can't wait for next appointment to hear a heartbeat.

The Doc said that I only get one ultrasound at 20 weeks so see the progress and the babies sex.  I thought we got more than that but oh well.  I'm a little sad I will not be getting more pictures but what can I do about it.  They gave me a nice little guide as to what to expect at the army hospital and each of my visits there.

On the plus side when we talked about labor and stuff she said that she sees tall women have really fast labors.  If you are over 5'8 you are golden, she said, that made me feel alot better.  I'm a giant and this baby will be out in no time, hopefully not while I'm in the car!

Your Body
When it comes to pregnancy symptoms, you may feel like you've already reached your limit this week: Your clothes are getting tighter around the waist, you're busting out on top, you're still running to the bathroom 100 times a day (if it isn't to throw up, it's to pee). But wait, there's more. You're having trouble lifting your head off the pillow, you're dragging your feet all day, and you can't wait to crawl into bed as soon as you arrive home at night. Sound familiar? If it does, you're in good pregnant company: You've got pregnancy fatigue.

Extreme fatigue during pregnancy is a common symptom, especially in the first trimester. And for good reason. Making a baby is hard work — make that very hard work. Consider this: During these first weeks and months of pregnancy, your body is manufacturing the placenta — your baby's life-support system. What's more, your body's metabolism and hormone levels have increased significantly while your blood sugar and blood pressure tend to be lower. Add it all up, and it's no wonder you feel as if you're competing in a triathlon each day.

The good news: You'll recover a lot of the get up and go that has gotten up and left once your body has adjusted to being pregnant and your baby's placenta is finished developing — somewhere around month four. The not-so-good news: Pregnancy fatigue is likely to reappear during the last trimester as the demands of toting around a larger fetus increase.

Your Baby
Sunrise, sunset: Would you believe your baby is having his or her first graduation already? Yes, it's true: Your scholar-to-be has ended his or her embryonic stage and is entering the fetal period now (good-bye embryo, hello fetus). Your fetus is now about one inch long, the size of a medium green olive (but no martinis, please). The head has straightened out and is more fully developed, the ears are much more prominent, and some new organs (the liver, spleen, and gallbladder) are forming. Your fetus is also making spontaneous movements of his or her arms and legs now that minuscule muscles are beginning to develop, though you won't feel your tiny dancer for at least another two months.

While it's way too early to feel anything, it's not too early to hear something (possibly). Your baby's heart is developed enough — and grown large enough — so that its beats can be heard with a Doppler, a handheld ultrasound device that amplifies the lub-dub sound the heart makes. But don't worry if your practitioner can't pick up the sound of your baby's heartbeat yet. It just means your shy guy or gal is hiding in the corner of your uterus, or has his or her back facing out, making it hard for the Doppler to find its target. In a few weeks (or at your next visit) the miraculous sound of your baby's heartbeat is certain to be audible for your listening pleasure.

First Baby Gift!

Over the weekend we bought an infant carrier because it was on sale at Nordstrom Rack. And both Nik and I cannot pass up a good sale price! Mainly it will be for ease when we travel and mostly for Nik to use *sly wink from me*

He will be a proud daddy wearing it! It will give him extra bonding time and if it's a little girl (I'm think I'm having a boy) then he is going to spoil her rotten! I can't wait to find out what it is so we can start buying little clothes! Only 12 weeks til then, only sheesh!

Feelin the fatigue, and I cannot wait to hear the heartbeat I hope I get to hear it at 12 weeks!! Only 4 more to go!!

Guaca-MOLE-EEE

I get to have 4 of my moles removed.  The two in my hair, the one on my temple, and the one by my ear! Heck yes, it's about time they are getting way to large and in the way.  I keep scratching them! Then they are also doing a body mapping of all my moles to watch them every year to make sure none look bad, or I will get them removed too.  Yay! gotta love military insurance!

Dreams

I am having some of the weirdest dreams and I mean freaky.  Not nightmares, scary, or sexual, just down right crazy!! I wake up after each one and I have like five in one night.  Is that normal??

Doc Appt

So after 4 days the OB finally calls me back.  They said that I will not bee seen until 12 weeks.  I thought that is a little bit late, but then again I'm not the Doc.  I was kinda frustrated with how they just seemed like she wanted to get off the phone with me.  She asked if I was taking any prenatals and I said yes, but she didn't ask what I was taking or anything.  I was just a little shocked.

I'm going in on April 27th for registration not to sure what that is but I bet it's where they ask detailed questions and evaluate me from there.  Then I will not be seen again until mid May.

At first I was worried but then I stopped myself to think about making a baby is one of the simplest things in life. I am healthy and so will my baby.  I even watched some of that show I didn't know I was pregnant.  About women who have a baby and didn't even know, one case the woman had her baby in the bathroom at her work.  After the shock the baby is healthy and the mom recovers.  I'm not to worried anymore and God always knows whats best.

Belly Pic

At 6 weeks 4 days finally getting a belly shot.  I love coming down here to swim especially on those hot days.  Good thing everyone says I look healthy, and I feel healthy almost all the time.  This is a great place to be pregnant never too hot or too cold, and I can just wear the same maternity clothes cause the season never changes.

I am very glad that Nik loves to take pictures so I know that all of you will love that!  I'm going to try to post belly pics as soon as I'm showing.  A friend said that those are the pictures you value the most.  I can't wait!

To My Unborn Child

I write this letter to my unborn child from the depths of my soul.
You've entered my womb and made my life complete and whole.
I never thought I would be chosen for such an awesome task.
It is a greater blessing than what I ever could ask.
I can almost imagine you in my mind.
Beautiful, Happy, Bouncing, flashing a smile so kind.
Feeling you flutter is a sensation like no other.
It does wonders for the joy of this soon-to-be-mother!
You create a glow in me I never knew I would see.
It is true happiness that sets me on cloud nine manifested deep inside of me!
You're my baby, my child, my heart, and my wonder.
I pray we create a bond that no one can put asunder.
You're a designers' original! A creation from the King!
I can hardly wait for you to enter the world and see the joy you bring.
Sweet baby of mine, you're a magnificent gift from above.
Living proof of how your father and I have shared our love.
I hope you have your fathers' eyes
Then you will go into the world able to look at all things wise.
I hope you inherit my ability to plan.
With that you will be able to face all things in life as a strong woman or man.
I hope you receive from your father his selfless ways.
For this the Heavenly Father will bless you, as he did him, all of your days.
I hope you learn from me, spirit and let no one take it.
Believe me you will need it in life, and many will try to break it.
But with that spirit you must have your father's center.
With that you will be cautious of any door you enter.
I want you to have my curiosity.
There's nothing wrong with questions you may blurt!
But receive your fathers' discernment,
so you'll know when to let go before getting hurt.
Have my big heart; know what emotions are and how to be real.
Share your fathers' strength so you can handle what you feel.
Share my sense of humor! Laugh a lot it helps you through life.
Share your fathers' sense of duty. Know how to be serious and take strife.
I'm emotional so I tell you its okay to blubber once and a while like your Mom.
But learn to develop what your father has; an excellent sense of calm.
But most of all the things I wish for your father and I to share.
I wish we teach you to love, respect, strength of mind, and to care.
These are my feelings, wishes and hopes for you.
You make my heart and soul sing!
I welcome you to the world and thank you for the joy,
my little queen or king.

Drained

I feel so tired all the time, but I am trying to be motivated to stay active.  Nik has been a real help with that this last weekend we went on a bike ride for 5 miles.  Felt good but it has been so long since I have ridden a bike that it hurt my butt.  It engulfed the whole seat! haha

I have been keeping up with the swimming and today it was hard to eat anything.  I don't feel nauseated but putting any food to my mouth makes me gag.  I just keep thinking positively and that I am in perfect health for I think it's a mind over matter situation.  Chronic positivity disease is something that I need to catch from Nik and soon!

He is the best husband and he is going to be a great daddy!  I call him daddy when we are going to bed, he chuckles but I say we should just start practicing now!

Love you all and ya know you can leave comments on my blogs!

6 weeks

Your Baby
How does your baby grow? Pretty fast, actually. Your baby's length is approximately a quarter of an inch — the size of a blueberry. Sounds pretty tiny still? Consider this for a little perspective: Your baby is 10,000 times bigger now than it was at conception a month ago.

The biggest fetal growth this week is your baby's head (the better to store all those smarts in), with new brain cells being generated at the rate of 100 cells per minute. How's that for a budding genius?

And talking about buds, your baby is going out on a limb this week as his or her arm and leg buds begin to sprout and grow longer (and stronger), dividing into hand, arm, and shoulder segments — and leg, knee, and foot segments (though the limb buds look more like paddles than hands or feet at this early stage).

Also forming this week are your baby's mouth and tongue. And although your embryo is just one month old, it's already gone through three sets of kidneys. The ones in place now are the permanent set and are poised to begin their important work of waste management. In about a week, your baby will start producing urine. Lucky for you, there's no need for diapers (yet). As your baby matures inside you, much of that urine will be excreted into the amniotic fluid, swallowed again by your baby, and then excreted again in a continuous cycle.

"Confirming Pregnancy"

Going to the Hospital today, but before I can see an OBGYN.  I have to go to the family clinic to confirm pregnancy.  A woman comes to Tripler hospital between 1-3pm Mon-Fri to take a pregnancy test to confirm for the Army they are pregnant.  I'm thinking why does it take 2 appointments to confirm something I already know.  I guess they are just covering their bases.
