Awake or Asleep?

Mr. Fussy pants can't seem to be happy about being awake or asleep. He fights taking a nap makes me wonder what I have to look forward to...

He is a good boy just stubborn at times. What's nice is that once he falls asleep he is out for about 4 hours! Gives us alot of time to sleep. Plus look at how chuncky he is getting so sweet!

Tobyns First Christmas

Tobyn's first Christmas was a simple celebration with just our newly started family.  We kept warm and personal just as any Hawaii holiday.  I am so proud of our ohana though we are sad that all of our family could not be together we made the best of this special day.  I especially loves our charlie brown tree it was not very big with few decorations on one side it was enough to bring out some christmas cheer.  In Hawaii its easy to lose your sense of winter and Christmas when it's a consistent 80 degrees outside.  It defiantly snuck up on us this year.  All of the presents were for Toby it's to hard to resist buying him items especially when he needed winter clothing. He enjoy it so much that he got so excited he threw up all over his Christmas outfit, before I could get a picture of him in it :( It was cute too it said Daddy's little elf. These holidays has surely been in the Green side of things; we received Tobyn in Thanksgiving and then have more than enough gifts and love for Christmas.  I look forward to what the new year has in store for us.  There is our adventure in Korea and a brand new start as a family.  I can't wait to see what God has planned, I know it's going to be something extraordinary.  Wishing Everyone the best for the holidays.  We are thankful for all the wonderful people in our live and especially thankful for our little miracle.

Toby with mom and dad and all his gifts he got from everyone.  There was a lot more but we couldn't get it all in the photo.  Thanks again for thinking of us and helping us give Toby the best Christmas.

Snuggled with Daddy

Best daddy! Nik is better than me and burping him and putting him down in his crib. But I think part of the problem is that mommys smell means food and he never wants to stray to far from it. Nik loves cuddle time the most. He is our precious baby.

Packing... Again!

We are getting down to the wire, about 2 weeks to go until we leave for South Korea! I can't believe it's almost here! I'm looking forward to a change of seasons for once but not to excited about freezing my butt off. Whenever I think of cold weather I think ofthe scene from dumb and dumber were they rode the mini motorcycle to Aspen and had frozen snot on their face and got stuck together! Hilarious! Hopfully that will not be me.

Nik has been so good about getting me good winter attire. I got this waterfoul down jacket from JCrew.

I never really knew how expensive good quality outerwear can be. Even though this jacket makes me look like the tire man it is very toasty. I tell Nik it's not about fashion it's about function and if I'm not warm I will complain. I've picked up long jons and fleece pants and jackets. I think I will be good for my arrival.

Baby Tobyn has so many clothes and blankets I'm not worried about my little sweaty man. We even got another all weather car seat cover for his stroller. Already have put it to good use since it's been raining for days on Oahu. The only things we have left to get are snow boots for both of us. I have found a great pair of North Face all weather boots so we need to go pick them up.

Anyways back to packing and if anyone knows of good winter wear please let me know but it's hard to find winter clothes in Hawaii!

Sleepy head

He has been sleeping and eating like crazy! It's hard not to hold him cause it seems that if he is not eating then he is crying. For the first time today I let him self sooth. I set a timer for 10 minutes to pick him up but after 5 he was out like a light. It's just so hard to let him cry for that long! He is such a good baby! We love him so much!

Night time feedings

My little toko is so great at night! He has been sleeping in his own crib the whole night for the past few days. It's wonderful to claim my bed back again!

He only has a little trouble when his mama eats spicy food (oops) he gets an upset tummy and has a hard time sleeping. What helps is his little giraffe that plays nature noises. Whenever I want him to sleep I rub his back and turn on his buddy and lights out for tobyn! I already broke the velcrow strap so I can't hang it from the stroller anymore but he still rides along. Best gift ever!

Labor Pains!

So here we are starting labor on November 24th around 6:45pm.  Pains felt slow and steady I swiveled my hips and took a warm bath.  Trying to relax the pain away but as everyone knows it on;y gets stronger.
Here is my face deciding that we need to go to the hospital my contractions rapidly went from 15 minutes apart to 5 minutes apart and only getting stronger.  Good thing we had the car packed for days so all we had to do was hop in.  As we were pulling into the hospital it was starting to get very worse that I had to keep stopping on the way up to the labor and delivery ward.  It took us a long time to get checked in and a Doctor had to give me an exam to see if I can even be admitted.  Thank the Lord as he we checking me telling me that I was only 2 cm dilated he broke my water so they had to admit me!  If I had to walk around for longer I think I would have cried, cause hospital policy is admittance at 4 cm or water breaking.
The pain was nothing that I could have prepared myself for, I wanted to go natural but I held out for as long as I could.  At 7 cm I got an epidural...
 Here is my happy face!!
at the time of this photo I was fully dilated I just had to wait for him to drop a few more cm down the birth canal.
After only 24 minutes of pushing came out with very little crying and only the ends of his hands and toes were a little purple. I had a lateral tear and just had one large stitch to fix it, but the healing process has been very long.  All around very healthy and happy boy!  We are very blessed to finally see our son it was a very long 9 months!  Tobyn Koa Arrived at 11:54am on Thanksgiving day November 25th, 2010.  Guess me and Nik have alot to be thankful for this year.
I'm waiting my turn to hold him.  With many tears coming out of my eyes.  I think Nik cried a little as well it was very over whelming! The nurse told Nik to get the camera out!
Tobyn getting cleaned up and his Apgar test done which he scored a 9, very healthy pink in color and functions.  He is my tough little man.
Finally I get to hold my baby!  He was so warm and I didn't care if he had anything on him.  He must love his mama as well cause as soon as I got him he pooped all over me!  I was so cought up in the moment that I didn't even notice until way later I had to get my gown changed.  I didn't care I finally had my baby!
Huge little boy!  A whopping 8lbs 2oz and 20.25 inches long.  He is exactly in the middle of mom and dads sizes.  I think he is going to be a very tall man! a Future NBA star?
Proud daddy, getting to know his lil man.  Nik as actually the first to hold him (yes before me) just for a breif moment before they checked his vitals.  I have never seen anything to wonderful as my two favorite men in my life.  How lucky am I?
Papa Schafer was the first to hold him he is just a day old.
Nana is very proud, was a beautiful grandma.  My parents stayed for the weekend but we did spend most of the time in the hospital.  Tobyn's resparations were very high, around 100 per minute, when the average is 40-60 per minute.  We stayed for 2 extra days so they could watch him if it got worse or better, but with mama feeding him often he got better real quick and we were able to go home that Sunday.  Boy was Nik sure happy to be home with his new family.  Hospital stays are a bit rough.  Thanks to all of the well wishes from friends and family.

The Greens sure have had a wonderful year, I wonder what 2011 will bring for us?  possibly a new adventure in life... :0)

Mama's Boy

He is getting so big, daddy had a mini shoot with baby Toby while I was making dinner.  He got some great shots of him looking at his swing.  I can't believe how fast time is flying by, pretty soon he will be sitting up and crawling!
This photo he sure looks like his mama! It's his concentration look border line stink eye. I guess I looked like this all the time when I was young.  He is still my cutie pie!
this is his Zoolander look... magnus! haha possible future model? he has so many looks.  Every day I can see a change in him especially when I feed him I just look how each day he has more hair or his eyelashes are growing in, even his legs get chunkier!  I love my little man!

Snug as a bug
